Executive Summary
Presence is a local-first family companion and memory preservation product. Its first job is simple: help a person leave one real piece of themselves every day. Diary entries, voice notes, video memories, family phrases, future messages, and trusted-contact rules become a private family vault. Presence is not a repeater and does not pretend someone is alive; it preserves real material with clear boundaries and prepares it for the people who should receive it.

1. The Problem
People do not only need memorials. They need somewhere to say the sentence they still want to say. Photos and videos can only replay the past. Generic chatbots have no real memory. Memorial pages are too cold. What families need to preserve is ordinary life: voice, tone, habits, boundaries, and words that were never said out loud.

2. Product Definition
Presence is a long-term companion app, not a one-time memorial tool. It should be opened daily, so ordinary life becomes the source of future memory.

3. Technical Architecture
Local data layer
The current PWA stores text, rules, and contacts locally. The native app should move to encrypted SQLite and sandbox file storage with family backup packages.
Memory retrieval
Short term: local keywords and structured tags. Mature product: LanceDB or sqlite-vec for local vector retrieval, so replies use only user-provided context.
Generation layer
Daily replies should prefer local small models. Strong cloud models are used only for user-approved offline analysis, summaries, or quality review.
Voice layer
SenseVoice for recognition, VoxCPM2 and MOSS-TTS family for voice clone/synthesis validation. Delivery requires similarity report, listening test, and user confirmation.
Guardian layer
The web app can prepare information and instructions. Reliable background check-ins, location, SMS, and notifications require native iOS/Android permissions.
4. Ethics and Trust
Presence earns trust by being honest. It can comfort, but it cannot impersonate. It can summarize memories, but it cannot invent them. It can prepare handoff, but it cannot secretly send it.
